Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he refuses
negotiations with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan
National Army, after meeting with Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the Tripoli-based
“National Accord” government in Istanbul.
Al-Sarraj
earlier announced the suspension of GNA’s participation in the 5+5 military
negotiations with LNA in Geneva.
In press
statements, Erdogan said his country will continue to hold the meetings with
al-Sarraj, and Turkey will also continue “supporting GNA’s armed groups in
Tripoli.”
