Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence
Agency (CIA) William J. Burns at Al Itihadiyah Presidential Palace.
The two parties affirmed the strength of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, and the central role of that collaboration in the maintenance of security and stability in the Middle East.
They also
stipulated mutual eagerness for reinforcing cooperation in various fields,
particularly on the levels of security and intelligence, with the aim of
restoring stability in the region and facing multiple challenges on that front.
President
Sisi and the CIA director conferred over a number of regional and international
issues of joint concern, mainly the Israeli military escalation in Gaza. In
that regard, the chief of state underscored the Egyptian fundamentals that are
an immediate ceasefire and not obstructing the delivery of aid.
In turn,
Burns underlined keenness on continuous coordination with Egypt in order to
resolve the current crisis, the Egyptian media write.
