The Egyptian Naval Forces received the “Al-Qadir” frigate of the
(MEKO-A200) model after completing the receipt procedures in the German city of
(Bremerhaven) to join the Egyptian naval fleet.
The new frigate was built by the (TKMS) company at the German (SBN) arsenal according to the latest systems.
This comes within the framework of enhancing the capabilities of the
Egyptian Naval Forces.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Naval Forces, raised the
Egyptian flag on the “Al-Qadir” frigate, which is the third out of four
MEKO-A200 frigates contracted between Egypt and Germany.
This took place in the presence of a number of commanders of the Egyptian
and German naval forces, the Egyptian ambassador to Germany, and the military
attaché and a number of representatives of the German company (TKMS), which
manufactured the “Al-Qadir” frigate.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Navy, delivered a speech
in which he conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah
El-Sisi, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and
Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,
Minister of Defense and Military Production, to the German Naval Forces and the
German company (TKMS), pointing out the effort they are making.
During the past period, the Egyptian Navy re-modernized and developed the
naval fleet and its infrastructure, including docks, bases, facilities, and
various services.
The Al-Qadeer frigate is a tremendous technological addition to the
capabilities of the naval forces, and aims to develop the ability to confront
the challenges and dangers surrounding our region, in order to preserve our
capabilities, uphold the nation’s word, and achieve full control over our
coasts extending in the Red and Mediterranean Seas.
