Israeli jet
fighters barbarously bombarded two schools providing shelter to displaced
people in the al-Darraj neighbourhood of Gaza, killing at least 50 people and
leaving hundreds wounded, according to sources on the ground.
The Salah Ad-Din school, operated by the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), and the Martyr Assad Saftawi school in al-Darraj bore the brunt of the Israeli offensive, causing significant casualties among the displaced population, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA said.
Approximately
50 people were killed, and hundreds sustained injuries as a consequence of the
aerial bombardment and artillery shelling.
The
aftermath of the strikes saw numerous casualties and injured people transported
to Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the nearby al-Zeitoun neighbourhood.
Emergency
response teams faced formidable challenges as the intense Israeli shelling of
the area impeded their efforts to evacuate the deceased and attend to the
wounded. The situation highlights the dire humanitarian impact of the Israeli
war on innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
