Russian
President Vladimir Putin appeared confused when confronted by an artificial
intelligence (AI)-generated version of himself during a marathon online and TV
appearance today during which he answered questions from reporters and polled
citizens.
Putin's "double" used the opportunity to ask him a question, reports Reuters.
"Vladimir
Vladimirovich, hello, I'm a student at St. Petersburg State University. I'd
like to ask if it's true that you have a lot of doppelgangers," Putin's
doppelgänger said, drawing laughter from a packed hall in Moscow.
"Let me also ask how you view the dangers that artificial intelligence and neural networks bring to our lives," added the doppelgänger who looked like Putin and spoke in his voice.
The
question caused hesitation in Putin, which rarely happens to him, and he was
already in the fourth hour of answering citizens' questions at a marathon
online conference.
"I see
that maybe you look like me and speak in my voice. But I thought about it and
only one person can be like me and speak in my voice, and that will be
me," Putin said, adding "By the way, that's my first double ".
It is often
speculated, especially in the Western media, that Putin has one or more
doppelgängers to appear in his place at some public gatherings. The
Kremlin denied this.
