Egypt and Malta have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on various aspects including electricity, energy supply diversification and security, research and innovation in energy, and energy efficiency in the public and private sectors.
This agreement aims to facilitate an indirect electricity connection between Egypt and Malta, as well as promote green hydrogen projects between the two countries.
Furthermore, the MoU involves the exchange of technical visits between
experts from both parties, organizing training programs, and sharing
information.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Mohamed Shaker, the
Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and the Maltese Minister
for the Environment,Miriam Dalli.
Both ministers stressed the importance of the MoU in exploring renewable
energy systems and emerging technologies in their respective countries.
They also emphasized its role in fostering research and innovation in the
electricity and energy sectors, while supporting energy efficiency initiatives
and measures In the public and private sectors.
During the visit, Shaker met with a delegation of Maltese businessmen to
discuss investment opportunities in green hydrogen and renewable energy
projects.
