China
intends to strengthen its economic partnership with Bulgaria and other Central
and Eastern European countries. This became clear during a discussion on the
One Belt One Road initiative, which is 10 years old.
At an event at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia on October 12, the successes of the economic cooperation between China and the countries of Europe, part of the initiative, were presented.
Since the
start of the One Belt, One Road partnership, trade between China and Bulgaria
has increased significantly, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food
Assoc. Deyan Stratev. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries in
the agricultural sector is particularly serious.
Over the
past 10 years, the two countries have also deepened their partnership in the
field of space food, Prof. Radev said. Denitsa Borisova from the Institute of
Space Research and Technology at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).
Joint
initiatives in the field of education have also improved over this period, the
forum organisers stressed. In 2023, the first Chinese group of economics
students will start studying at the University for National and World Economics
(UNWE) in Sofia.
Prof.
Dimitar Dimitrov, Rector of UNWE, was adamant that the potential for
cooperation between Bulgaria and China in the field of education is huge. This
was confirmed by the words of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry
Nikolai Pavlov, who pointed out that a lot of work is being done in this area.
That is why
strengthening the link between science and business has been set as a top
priority by the government, he stressed. According to him, this link is
envisaged in a number of strategic documents such as the Recovery Plan.
