Houthi
attacks in the Red Sea might result in the militarisation of a crucial maritime
route, raising shipping and insurance prices, and impeding the flow of critical
supplies to Yemen.
A missile
struck a US-owned cargo ship off the coast of Yemen on Monday, a British
security agency and maritime risk company said, a day after Houthi rebels fired
a cruise missile at an American destroyer.
In recent weeks, the Houthi armed group has reportedly launched anti-ship missiles and anti-ship ballistic missile targeting international merchant vessels purportedly en route to ports in Israel.
A new
strike hit the Yemeni Red Sea port city of Hodeida on Saturday following rocket
fire by Iran-backed Houthis, security sources said.

US and UK
forces have shot down more than 20 drones and missiles over the Red Sea
launched by Yemen’s Houthis, in what London branded Wednesday the “largest
attack” yet by the Iran-backed militia.
The
Yemeni-based Houthis declared on Wednesday that they had targeted a vessel
named " CMA CGM TAGE," claiming it was en route to Israeli ports.
The areas
of Yemen that are under the control of the Houthis, as well as the capital
Sanaa, the institution of slavery has returned.
Yemen's
Houthi movement attacked two commercial ships in the Red Sea with naval drones
on Monday, the Iran-backed group said, the latest in a surge of attacks over
Israel's military campaign in Gaza.

towards ships sailing to Israeli ports.
The Houthis shot down a drone on the evening of the eighth of this month.
This drone is the American MQ9 drone that assassinated the Iranian Quds Force
commander Qassem Soleimani and Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
The Israeli army said on Thursday that it had intercepted a missile
"launched from Yemen" towards its southern city of Eilat.
Iranian-backed Houthi rebels announced on Wednesday, that they successfully
downed a US drone off the coast of Yemen, claiming it was operating as part of
US military support for Israel.
